Q/A: Acne Scars

Q: How do you get rid of acne scarring

A: I haven't personally experienced acne scarring because of the skincare routine I am currently on. I think thats key to keeping perfect skin is to find that routine that is not too harsh for your skin but also protects from the damage that makeup can do. It took me a while to figure out what brands of skincare was good for my skin and it may take you a while too but it's well worth it in the end. The closest to scarring from acne for me was discoloration from pimple popping = lol sounds gross but true. Oh and your not supposed to pop pimples cause it makes the problem worse but I dont care I do what I want! lol I heard it takes like a 1-3 months for discoloration to correct itself I could be wrong though I remember I read it somwhere. I get pretty tan in the summer so the discoloring isn't much off. I usually try to treat the pimple before it comes by using my Clean and Clear Advantage spot treatment, it works pretty well. My sister does suffer from discoloration from acne because she is very fair and has freckles so I believe she has been using a brightening cream from Shiseido. It lightens the scarring and evens out the skin. If your a dark skin girl I think you can use it too but I would ask the Sales associate first if its ok.

Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

If your interested in freelancing or just a big fan of makeup this is the book to get. This book answers all your questions like how to correct undereye circles, how to start a freelance kit, how to start your own business, bridal makeup, oh geeze everything! I was scared that since it was written by Bobbi Brown she may just talk about products on her makeup line but it's not even about her makeup. It's a lot about the HOW TOS of makeup and just great information about the business. I bought this book for 32 dollars at Barnes and Nobles. I know its a little pricey but it's well worth it.

French Nails

Are they real or acrylic????

NEITHER! they're press ons. I have never tried press ons before and I am quite impressed. The first two nails I did got some airbubbles but then I figured you had to put alot of glue on and make sure u press hard. It comes with 24 Nails in 10 different sizes, Pink gel glue, Wooden cuticle pusher, and a mini nail filer. I got mine at CVS for approx. 6.50 (well I actually had 5 dollar extra bucks so I got it for a little over 1.00) I also went to Target and saw them for 5.99 so I bet Walmart is much cheaper. I'm going to check out Sally's and see if they have like a kit which they probably do of course and check out their quality. I'm so exciting about these, no more 30 dollar plus tip for acrylic nails. Oh! and 2 week fills for 10 dollars geeze! Press ons are a life saver for addicts.

A Rose Romance

Hey guys!! I went to my local MAC counter and I checked out the Rose Romance collection. Everything I was expecting to buy I decided not to. =/ Everything was very subtle, not a lot of color. There was one thing I bought though and it was Mutiny pigment. This is my very first full jar pigment! I have so many samples but no full jars. I felt that in the jar it looked so pretty but once I swatched it looked like it was just a high intensity frost with a hint of blue. Kind of disappointing. I'll definitely be doing a look with this color after I do a neutral look =)

Another Contest!

Yes this was done for another youtube contest. MakeupbyTiffanyD is a holding a contest and the rules are to base your look on a movie. This was such a hard dicision because all the movies I thought of were already done. I wanted to be unique. So the movie I chose was..A Bugs Life! and Heimlich was my inspiration. He's super cute and fat haha. As you can see the colors I chose were based on the colors of him. I crimped my hair to match his fun and perky personality plus because of his wavy body.

This Weeks Mini Haul

I don't think I'll ever be able to have a true haul. I envy those who are able to spend money on many products on one trip to the store. Of course their are those who save money for a day where they go all out and splurge but that will never be me. I have to buy something every week so I never have money saved up for a huge haul. I guess you can call it an ADDICTION!

Robert Simmons E67 Filbert Brush
Price: 11.99 / 40% coupon about 7
Rating: 5 stars
First I'm going to start off with my new Michaels brush. Today I actually went to Michaels and just looked at all their brushes to see if I could use any of them. I found the most perfect brush for concealer application. The Robert Simmons E67 Filbert! This is such a great brush. It's pretty stiff and a perfect size for me. At the moment I'm using Sonia Kashuks flat foundation brush for concealer application and it's just a little to big and it leaves streak marks so I have to blend it out with my finger. I do own a Lowell cornell filbert brush but its a little smaller and it is stained by my HIP creamliner. I initially bought it for concealer but it was way to small (picture on side, black one) I've realized that all my paint brushes from Michaels stain easily from my makeup. It's a pain to clean. The colors on my brushes will seriously not come out even if I clean it with EVOO. The EVOO will also stain it! These brushes I'm referring to are my Maxine Mops and Lowell Cornells. But it's ok I get them pretty cheap. I suggest everyone to check Printable-Coupons.blogspot.com before going to to any store. I have saved so much money from coupon clippings from this website. It updates you on recent coupons from restaurants, beauty stores, retail, and groceries. I won't go to Michaels without a coupon. I just think its ridiculous to spend full price on something when they will always have coupons every week no matter if its 25% or 40%.

Beautique Lip Liners
Price:
1.99 / with Beauty card 1.29/ This months special buy 2 get one free
Rating: 3 out 5
I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and I saw these lip liners and I was alittle iffy in buying them. I've had experience with cheap liners where they feel like a coloring pencil, nice and hard. These were amazingly soft. They glided on my lips like butta! The staying quality is why I gave it a 3. It will rub off quite quickly but then again im constantly eating so I'm always reapplying lipstick throughout the day. After I applied those lipliners to my hand I rubbed it off with one swipe =. They will do for now. Go to SallysBeauty.com to get the coupon for the month.

Rings
Price: 5 each / 2 for 8.00
Last but not least are my rings I got from Charlotte Russe. I'm starting to like big rings now and these are pretty BIG. Today in class a guy said, "Do you have problems with bees?" O wow that was a knee slapper! lol. The glass looking one you can actually adjust the ring to your size but the other ring you can't and it's alittle to big for me.

Mini CCO Haul and Paint Pot Swatches

Yay! I went to the CCO today and got me a few things. I was so excited when I walked in I haven't gone in forever!! So I had a budget when I walked in the door and it was 40 hmm.. what an unrealistic budget. I walked in and added like 5 items to my bag and then I realized holy crap im over budget because I also wanted to save money for other stores also. So I have to put a lip liner and an eyeshadow back =( oh well. I think the most suprising item I saw there was Studio Sculpt foundation and they only had it in 3 shades and amazingly they had it in mine. I was freaking out. What I also saw that I really wanted but I just couldn't squeeze it in my budget was the MAC 189 foundation brush ughhhhh I wanted it! I'll probably go back in like 3 weeks or so. It takes me 45 mins to get there so that's why I don't go as much.

Here are some swatches of the Fresh Green Mix and all of my Paint Pots I own =) Enjoy!

Detailed Skin Care Routine

I know everyone has their own skin care routine but I just wanted to share what I use and what works for me. If your still having problems finding the right skin care products that suits you this post may help you out. =)

Outline
  • Wash twice with cleanswer
  • Eye makeup remover
  • Facewipes (remove extra residue)
  • moisturizer
  • Acne spot treatment
  • face spritzer
My skin care process usually starts at night, besides moisturizing in the morning before my makeup appliction. After a long day and wearing makeup that seeps into the pores I wash my face twice with two different products. First with the Nutrioniste Detoxifying gel cleanser which helps take the makeup off and I wash my face again with the Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Cleanser which takes the dirt out while at the same time preventing me from having pimples. You don't have to have two different cleansers but I like to because The Clean and Clear will dry me out alittle because of the Salicylic Acid 2%. I think the Clean and Clear is a great product for oily skin though, it really prevents pimples but make sure you have a good rich moisturizer.

After my face is all cleansed my eyeliner is smudged all over the place. I take a Q-tip and dip it in my Lancome Bi-Facil eye Makeup remover and rub down my eyes with it. I then take my walmart brand equate face wipes and wipe down the oily residue. I'll do this process one more time with the other side of Q-tip to make sure my eyes are eyeliner/mascara free. I'll take the rest of the wipe and wipe down my face and neck. You would be soooo surprised how much makeup residue you have left even after washing your face twice. I usually focus on my neck and hairline. I believe you don't have to spend so much money on expensive makeup wipes because these non expensive brands are just as good and you get more for less.

Now that I know that my face is completely residue free I go and head off to moisturizing. I use Clean and Clear Advantage oil-free acne moisturizer. I was very hesitant to use this product thinking 'oh crap my face is going to be soo dry after using this' but I had to just try it out. This contains .5% Salicylic Acid so it's not as drying. It really moisturizes and I give it 2 thumbs up. I really think this product is the reason why I rarely have pimples.

On days that I do have pimples I'll spot treat it with the Clean and Clear Advantage. ( Can you see how much I like Clean and Clear products lol). This thing is like the greatest product ever. You know there are times I am stressed out and I have like a massive pimple so I'll double shot it with the Clean and Clear Advantage spot treatment and the Clean and Clear Persa-Gel maximum strength, which contains benzoyl peroxide 10%. This will dry it out completely and get it to the ending stage where it transforms in to a white head. Some may not like this process but if your up for experimenting go right ahead. Dry skin girls with pimples please do not try this method.

So after all of those steps the very last thing I do is spritz myself with Fix+ of course. Fix+ = my friend. There's so many things you can do with Fix+ its amazing, but then again if you filled it up with scented water I probably wouldn't notice =. I really hope this helps some people out. I love trying new things and I don't think I really ever stuck to one item or routine. I have like 5 different brands of shampoo/conditioner bottles that I have tried half way and moved on. I'm never satisfied with many products because I always believe there is something better out there for me. So if your interesting in these products, try it out cause you may really like it =)

Too Faced: Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder

Price: $28
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

This bronzer is the best I tried so far. It has abosolutely no shimmer so it is great for contouring. The color is not too dark but not too light so I would suggest this for light to medium tan skintone. It's buildable for a darker color. The best part about this bronzer is that it doesn't make you look orange! It is so hard to find a bronzer that doesn't have an orange undertone. I have tried Mac Blunt blush for contouring but I did see an orange tint so I swapped it on MUA. I do suggest to tap your brush into the product, dont swip back and forth. Loose powder starts to build up easily which can be kind of annoying but I think it's because it contains real cocoa powder. The scent is great, it gives me chocolate cravings everytime I put this on. I asked my friend to smell it and she said it smells like tic tacs?? Lol. The price for this was a little expensive but I say its well worth it for a good non-orangey bronzer.

MAC Rose Romance Collection

(Pictures available from Temptalia.com)
There are a lot of upcoming Mac collections coming out but none are really standing out to me. The only one I may get a few items from is as you can tell the Rose Romance collection which is launching April 23. I'm going to have to actually see it in person to see if any of the products are worth buying. I'm really liking the Beauty Powders with the embossed rose, it looks very classy =). The lipsticks look very neautral and wearable on an everyday basis also. Oh and I have to test the Fix+ with rose. Hopefully the rose scent is not overpowering. Also just to let you know, I've been saving money for Mac when I do get a student discount in August I believe. So be ready for massive hauls. Right now I'll be doing some reviews and swatches on products I already have. I promised my self I can't buy any MAC products (until discount) unless it is limited edition and I absolutely just have to have it. Being a student with no job kind of limits the amount of makeup I can buy.

Need A Margarita? Body Scrub

Price: 13.50
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Attention: To all girls with Alligator legs!
This Citrus body scrub works miracles. My legs, I have to admit are quite scaly, (I know so unattractive) I saw this product at Bath and Body Works and I decided why not try it out. I warn you the margarita scent is very strong. Someone who is very sensitive to strong smells may get a little light headed. The way I applied this product was after I washed my hair and was still in the shower I'd rub the scrub in circular motions on my legs and arms. Then I rinsed it off after I was satisfied with the scrubbing. The first time I did this the scrub was a little irritating for my hands because it was rubbing agaisnt my palms. If you have sensitive palms use gloves!
The RESULTS: I loved the way it made my legs and arms feel very smooth and hydrating. I've tried Baby Oil Gel before but I just felt so oily and I never wanted to lay on my bed and that's with using just a dime size for my legs. This doesn't give me that oily feeling at all. The only thing is with this product is, to keep that nice smooth leg look, you may have use it every other day.
I'm not sure if they still have this product but if you get your hands on this you won't regret it.

Pigments only!

Ok so I submitted this for SephoraJunkies makeup contest on Youtube.. so I decided why not make this as my first post! yay! The rules were to only use pigments for this look.

MAC Pigments used
-Nocturnal Plum Pigment
-Melon pigment

First I primed with Urban Decay Primer Potion then I patted Melon pigment with a flat shader brush on the middle of my eye leaving the inner third and outter third bare.

Then I put the Nocturnal Plum in the inner third of my eye
slightly blending it towards the melon and also using a flat shader brush that bought from Michaels. Maxine mop 3/4 i think.

I then put the Nocturnal plum on the outer third of my eye blending it in towards the Melon and over

Now its all about blending. Blend around the Nocturnal Plum to soften up the lines. I used the MAC 217 for this job. I also put alittle bit of the Nocturnal Plum on the brush and tapped it on the outer part of my eye to add depth. As you can see the Melon just pops!

Now for the undereye area. With a pencil brush I lined it with the Nocturnal Plum on the outer under eye area connecting it with the outer above portion or my eye. Makes sense? lol if not I'm glad I have pictures. Line the inner part of the eye with Melon pigment of course what other colors are there?!

Ok so now for the big BAM! Line upper and bottom lid with black eye liner I used Loreal HIP cream I liner. Then I added some falsies the Ardell 101 Demis.

And the results....
